Vijay David is a showman extraordinaire. His vocal ability never fails to amaze audiences and he is highly-regarded
among his peers.
His career spans more than 20 years performing with various bands in the
local circuit. A highlight of his career was winning the 1989 Carlsberg Top of the Pubs contest, which spread word of his
performances at the nondescript Yuyi Kitchen with the duo Remy and Martin.
Since then, Vijay has played at almost every known venue for live music from Klang Valley to
Ipoh, Penang, Malacca, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Singapore. Some of the more famous places include
Hard Rock Cafe, Barn Thai Jazzaraunt and Titus Blues Avenue in Kuala Lumpur, and Aubrey's, Fat Frogs Cafe and The Tavern in Singapore.
He has also shone in
a variety of roadshows and concerts across the country including the F1 Toyota Roadshow, National Panasonic Music Extravaganza
and Carlsberg MusicFest.
Vijay is also behind some of the most famous jingles heard on TV and radio, and has sang in sessions with the likes of Jamal
Abdillah, Ramlah Ram, Shima, Ella, Elaine Kang, Sara Loo, DJ Dave, Fauziah Latiff, Khatijah Ibrahim,
Michael Veerapen, Mac Chew, Jenny Chin, Lewis Pragasam, Paul Ponnudorai and late Sudirman Haji Arshad.
Vijay has forged a rock-solid trio with Albert Sirimal and Bada and they perform at Backyard on Saturdays.
They also play at Waikiki on Mondays.
